The use of industrial cosmetics often leads to skin issues, health problems, and environmental pollution. FUWA Biotech has introduced the Fuwa3e fermented pineapple peel cleaning product, with a strong motivation to provide an alternative solution through natural, safe, and effective Eco-Enzyme products. The project has contributed to solving health issues caused by the overuse of industrial cosmetics, recycling about 300 tons of pineapple peels annually, reducing environmental pollution risks. The fermented byproduct is also used as organic fertilizer, saving three times more water due to its superior cleaning power compared to industrial products, and promoting awareness of green consumption through the refill model, which helps eliminate 150,000 plastic bottles each year. On the other hand, Fuwa3e has created thousands of jobs and increased incomes for distributors, particularly for women with families.

Part 1

Starting background of the project

Climate change, resource depletion, and environmental pollution are placing tremendous pressure on the global economy and the lives of millions of people. In Vietnam, the situation is even more urgent as many areas are struggling with the enormous amount of agricultural waste. Thanh Hoa, one of the largest pineapple-producing regions in the country, generates about 50,000 tons of pineapple peels annually, most of which are discarded without being reused or recycled. The disposal of this massive waste burden not only strains the waste management system but also causes water pollution and CO2 emissions, affecting the health of the community.

In addition, with modern lifestyles, the use of industrial cosmetic products has become a common household habit. However, numerous studies have shown that cleaning products are harmful to human health, especially to the skin. For regular users, issues such as itching, peeling, dryness, and even contact dermatitis have become quite common. According to UNEP, approximately 1 million tons of chemicals used in the cleaning industry cause water and soil pollution, impacting ecosystems and public health.

However, according to a report by Grand View Research, the global green cleaning products market is experiencing strong growth, with a projected annual compound growth rate (CAGR) of 11.4% from 2021 to 2028. This trend reflects the increasing consumer awareness of health and the environment, alongside the demand for safer products.

In response to these challenges, Fuwa3e has pioneered the use of the vast pineapple peel resource for fermentation, creating the Fuwa3e biological cleaning product that cleans without harming the skin, reduces the risk of irritation, and protects users' overall health. The Fuwa3e fermented pineapple peel cleaning product is a pioneering solution that successfully applies the circular economy model and brings positive social and environmental impacts, in line with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Project innovation/ invention

FUWA's initiative focuses on developing organic, fermented biological cleaning products made from pineapple peels, based on Eco-Enzyme technology. This advanced biological solution is created through the fermentation of pineapple peels, sugar, and water. Eco-Enzyme not only has superior cleaning abilities but is also entirely plant-based, ensuring safety for both users and the environment. The addition of enzymes in the products enhances cleaning efficiency while making the production process more environmentally friendly.

For this reason, FUWA has chosen Eco-Enzyme as the foundation for all of its products. Fuwa3e produces a wide range of products, including home care, car care, baby care, body care, and pet care.

In addition, Fuwa3e products commit to 3 "NO"s: no colorants, no fragrances, and no harmful chemicals. They also ensure 2 "SAFEs": safe for consumer health and safe for the ecosystem.
